Ambulela Food and Clothing Distribution Project |
|
 |
Ambulela is a Zulu word meaning "a gift of old clothing". We accept donations of clothes, blankets, toys and baby accessories. Some of these items are kept by us to be used in our projects, and the rest are distributed to other organisations working with orphans and other vulnerable children in the area who need them.

| The Rainbow Airbridge Trust has visited us twice. In June they brought medicines, nappies, nutritional products, blankets and toys from the Thusanani Children's Foundation.
The blankets were given to the Rape Crisis Center. Medicines were distributed to Angel's Home, Sunshine Trust and the Sunbeam Kids Day Care center. Pectrolyte was given to Dr Barrett to distribute to needy children. The nutritional products were split between Angel's Home, Sunshine Trust and the Sunbeam Kids Day Care. We kept the toys for the Day Care, and they will now go to the Angel's Home Preschool.

In November Rainbow Airbridge visited us again, this time bringing more than 900kg of food. We have distributed mielie meal to Angel's Home, Sunshine Trust, New Covenant Church's Street Children's Project and Anisha - a lady who cares for 25 children in her home in Meqheleng. We have also given Angel's Home Nestle Cerealac. Nestle Mague is being distributed by Dr Barrett to HIV positive patients who are malnutritioned and cannot afford supplements. The rest of the food is being used by the soup kitchen.

People from all over the world have sent us clothes and knitted items. Some clothes are put aside for when we open our crisis center, the rest are distributed to Angel's Home and to needy children in the area. We also accept toys and wool, which we knit into blankets for the winter. You can send donations to: The Sunbeam Kids Foundation PO Box 887 Ficksburg 9730 |
