4 December 2004 ~ Vist from Clowns Without Borders |
|
 |
We were very fortunate to have a visit from Clowns Without Borders. This group of 4 performers from the USA and Ireland are traveling around South Africa, with the sole purpose of bringing a smile to faces of underprivileged children. We gave them a very busy day on Saturday, and they performed excellently, entertaining children and adults alike. |

The day began with a quick trip to Lesotho, where they gave an impromptu show to some children in hospital. At 11am we went to Angel's Home (which was where these pictures were taken). The children enjoyed the show outside, and then were also treated to more singing inside. After lunch we moved on to the Meqheleng Community Hall for another show which was amazing (shrieks of laughter from many of the audience). Unfortunately the children from Sunshine Trust didn't arrive back from their trip to Bloemfontein in time for their show, but the clowns were able to do a workshop with a group of 8 street children. | |

After a very productive day it was time for our Rotary Club's Christmas Dinner, and the clowns entertained us throughout the evening.
Thank you so much Jamie, Liz, Tim and Jonathan. We really enjoyed your visit, and hope you will come again.
Thanks also to Claire and Jack for hosting them.
