Ficksburg Hospital Children's Ward |

The Rotary Club of Ficksburg Imperani painted the children's ward at the Ficksburg Hospital as one of their projects on 15 January 2005. The task was easier said than done, but with a lot of work and a little help from the profesionals the job was finally done and looks great. Claire donated some Pooh Bear wall decorations that finished it off perfectly.

| Ficksburg has no crisis care center for children who have been abandoned or removed from their parents, so they are taken to the hospital until a suitable place can be found for them. We plan to open a crisis care center once we have more funding, but until then this remains the only option. All of know that hospital's are no fun, especially when you're a kid who's not sick, so it was important to us to contribute to this project and in some way make their stay in hospital more pleasant. |  |

We decided to contribute to the project by donating a "play station". We put together a box of toys, colouring books and crayons. We also took up a table and 4 chairs for the kids who are well enough to play, and a lot of soft toys for those who aren't. When we delivered the toys this little guy jumped right in. Since he was the only one in the ward that day he must have thought we had come just for him.
