The Soup Kitchen |

Our soup kitchen is a joint project between several organisations in Ficksburg including The Rotary Club of Ficksburg Imperani, Ficksburg Child and Family Welfare society, The New Covenant Church, The Sunbeam Kids Foundation, a group of Muslim ladies and various other Christian organisations.

We are currently feeding more than 100 children from 3 underprivileged schools in Meqheleng every day. We have a plot of land on which to grow a vegetable garden, and the old age home very kindly donated a stove. Unfortunately the stove is an industrial one and we can't get it through the door into the kitchen, so we plan to sell it and buy a smaller gas stove.
Until we get out stove we are feeding the children instant porrige mixed with milk powder (both donated by the Rainbow Airbridge Trust), and peanut butter and jam sandwiches. Once we have the stove we will be cooking pap and soup.
